Try a throttle rocker 2, they're made in the USA, and we met the owner and love the product. It worked great for our 1500mile trip to CA, and you don't have to worry about throwing switches or such. Retail is about $10-$15. You can find them on fleabay for less, but watch out for imitations.

I have a cramp buster which is kinda like cruise. and the only time I think it is use full is interstate riding. other that that it seams like more trouble that its worth.

I have one like this:

That is not my bike, a picture I grabbed from the net, but it looks the same.

I really like mine.  I use it alot, not necessarily all the time. (In my truck I use cruise control constantly, as soon as I get to speed.)  That really allows me to rest my hand and move around a little.

I tried one of these:

And hated it.  It was too wide for my grips and caught on the end cap, which prevented the throttle from turning back when I released it.  Maybe it was to wide, I do not know if there are other sizes.

What brand is that, precher?

I have one like prechermike's and it is a Vista Cruise.  Since I ride a lot on the interstate, I have both a ThrottleRocker and a VistaCruise.  Both together really increase the comfort level, and because the VistaCruise sometimes vibrates to "off" unexpectedly the ThrottleRocker keeps me from having a "surprise" deceleration.

In the post above, that is a Vista Cruise (maybe universal fit), $30.  Easy installation, easy operation and it is great.  It's a throttle-lock, not like a car cruise control.

Hmm I don't know how I feel about that. It simply vibrates off when cruising at a consistent speed..?

Yeah, I just need to free my right arm every once in a while..

I am not sure what brand it is, I got it for Christmas.  It was blisterpacked on a cardboard thing, like it could hang on a wall, just tempting people to buy it! ;)  That price sounds about right though, if I know the giver (and I do very well!)

I have never had mine vibrate off while I was riding.  There is an acorn nut on top that you adjust, maybe yours is not quite tight enough. I played with mine a while before I got it just like I wanted it.  I have not ridden on the interstate, so maybe that makes a difference.

I am very pleased with mine, and it is a throttle lock, not a cruise control.

Yeah, I think it got some oil on it at some point, on the part where friction is supposed to hold it in the "on" position.  As prechermike says, it is adjustable, which works if it's not slick with lubricant!  And yes, keep in mind that it is a throttle lock, not a speed control.

I had cruise control on two Kawa Voyagers and a throttle lock on a 1976 Wing. True cruise control is wonderful and takes a lot of stress off a long ride. The throttle lock, on the other hand, is a bit riskier.
you tend to get lulled into forgetting that it is on.

In Portland how could you not love it? Can't wait to get over there with my bike.

So it seems VistaCruise is the prevailing choice.

is vista cruise a throttle lock, and when enguaged can you "roll off" the throttle for breaking? or do you have to disenguage?

Sorry Yumi,
The throttle lock was an after market add on that was on the bike when I got it.
The cruise control systems were factory and were just like you find on your car.

Vista Cruise is a friction style throttle lock.  If adjusted properly, you can turn the throttle both ways while it is engaged.

I use a "Flip-a-Lever" (also a friction style throttle lock), but they are no longer made.

The throttle lock is just what the name says, it locks the throttle in position.  Really lock is too strong a term, it is friction based and sort of keeps the throttle grip where you put it.  You can still give her more gas or roll off a little.  This is not like cruise control on a car, where up hills or down the speed is constant.  If you go up a hill you will more than likely slow down, unless you give her more gas.

It is certainly not a "set it and forget it" kind of thing and it does not cut off if you hit the brake.  Sometimes I have noticed I have slowed down a little, it could be the lock slipping, a hill, the wind or just one of those things.  I do not necessarily use it all the way to wherever I am going, but it is good to give my hand and arm a break every so often.

Having said all of that, I really like mine and would hate to give it up.
