I'm having a hell of a time reading the pressure in my rear tire - the clearance is so tight to the rim that I can't fit the gauge in. I have 2 gauges that I tried, just bought another with a fancy bendable arm, but even that won't work because of the angle on the head... Can anybody recommend a nice gauge that fits well back there?

Get one of the round dial gauges with a 12" to 15" hose and a 90 degree chuck. agound $15-$18 om eBay. Get low oressure 0-40 or50lbs.

Just a plain, cheap straight one works fine. Just set the wheel so the valve stem is about 1/2 way up on the back of the wheel. Theres not many [places it can be & get on it.

Probably my lameness, but the cheap pen ones always give me drastically different readings. Thanks for confirming they'll fit though! I have a couple around here somewhere, but of course I can't find 'em...

go to auto parts store with bike tell them what you want and try it to see if it works ;)

OK, I found my cheap pen one, fits fine, and works a lot better than I remembered I still ordered a fancy one with a dial gauge though :)

I have found this to be true as well. Basically the valve stem needs to be located as far to the rear of the bike as possible, and you can get a gauge to fit there, but you might have to use two hands. I use the spring-loaded kind which seems to be plenty accurate.

remember this little incident when you go for new tires/tubes. Angled valve stem are such a wonderful little gift.

Seconded. Shop put a right angled valve stem on mine at last tire replacement and it made all the difference.
