Title: Wingerline HighwayBar
Post by Thumper09 on 06/16/09 at 11:25:32

I purchased a Wingerline HighwayBar from Accessories International on June 1, and received it today.  Installed it and I think it looks great, better than the original engine guard. I have pictures of the bike with the Wingerline installed. :)

1-get the properties of the pic/copy it
2-in your post(to be) click on the image tab, then insert the properites/paste in the middle of the img]here[img

you can preview post and see if it worked for you  :)

Also you may have to put the pics at Photobucket or BikePics, etc first! if you dont have them there already.
(I think this is still right)

OK -- set up a free account at www.photobucket.com

Then upload your photo from your computer to photobucket (it is digital, or at least scanned, isn't it?)

Then copy the IMG line and paste it into your post to this board.  Hit the preview button to make sure you have it right, then post!

Or, just reference this most excellent guide that Yonuh Adisi made up.  Worked for me! :D

Yeah, Yonah has all the details!

I just gave you the abstract, or "executive summary"!

Thanks Thumper. The front view is the one I've been anxious to see. A lot of clearance for the brake and clutch pedals. This looks like it might really work for the purpose intended, unlike the OEM version.

Since I am a woman I have smaller feet therefore I don't have any problem shifting.  My husband has size 13 shoes and found his foot fits but he has to remember to move his footback otherwise his foot hits the top of the bar.  As you can see you can also use it as a footrest.  For me it is perfect.  Don't misunderstand he can ride my bike now with the new highway bar, it just doesn't have the clearance he is used to on his Honda VTX 1300.

Could you put in a side picture in?

Looks awesome!  And sorry for another pic request, but do you have a view from the rear looking forward at the pegs and crash bar?  That would well demonstrate what you were talking about with the space around the pegs.  I ask because one day I definitely want to get one on my bike.  I'd have to remove the highway pegs I just got done with, but these look like they'd give a footrest in about the same position.

Again, lookin' good! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I just took some pictures but they are not that good because I took them in the garage.  I will post more tomorrow.

Great pictures!

Can you do me a favor?
Will you measure the bars and see how wide they are?

I emailed the company that sells them and they replied, 24 inches.
They sure look wider than that!

I think they are 27 inches but I will measure them tomorrow and post the measurements.  But I am almost positive they are 27.

Awsome lookin'! Waaaay better than the OEM Engine Guard!

Question: How and where are the lower mounts fastened?

Thanks!

I measured it again and it is a little over 27 inches. Picture attached.

The lower mounts bolt to the foot pegs.  As you are sitting on the bike the right side is an acorn nut.
http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww57/jday50/IMG_5329.jpg
On the left side do not remove the bolt just loosed and slide the bracken in and tighten. The bracken is a slide on this side.

My husband's size 13 fits under the shifter no problem.

Thanks Thumper09!
I knew they had to be more than 24".
Makes me wonder about the guy telling me 24"

So they're fairly easy to put on?
I have been debating this for over a year.
I think I'm going to have to get them.
They look the best of any I've seen and I've searched alot .

Very nice pictures. :)

I love my Wingerline bars too. Much nicer compared against the Suzuki version.

Simon do you have to change gears any differently? Or is it about the same as before the wingerlines?

I just have always changed gears a certain way...got use to it that way...so I wondered if its any different,as far as the placement of your foot, actually changing the gears. If the bars get in the way any.

Thanks for posting this.  I've been wanting to do some upgrades to my 04 Suzuki Savage,  starting with the engine guard.   :)

Your set up looks like exactly what I need.  Thanks for the time you took with pictures.  You didn't change the standard controls, did you?
What year is your bike?  It looks to be close to mine, which is a 2007.
Thanks!
Janice

Those bars look great, and are functional too!!!

I like the idea that they can work as a foot rest too, w/o too much modding.
Looks like something else for the short list!!!!!

Janice,

My bike is brand new 2009.  I just got it in April.

Couldn't stand looking at the OEM crash bar on my '07 after seeing yours. Bought a Wingerline today.

It looks as though it won't work with forward controls. :(

like the art teacher said, I wonder how well these would work with forward controls, especially Ed. Ls  But they do look nice on the stock pedals  :)

From what I can see they won't work at all with forward controls.

I ordered a set of Wingerline Bars from Accessories International on 12/27  paid with Pay Pal, they sent me an E mail the next day and said they would send me a tracking number in 1 to 3 days. It's now 1/15 no bars and no E mail anybody here had a similar experiance with these guys.

I have a kit from Ed L. that I intended to try to make work with the Wingerline.  I have not yet made that effort but it may be an interesting challenge.  My fear is that I will not get them to coexist and wind up doing the same as I did with my windshield and constantly shift back and forth on whether I want it on the bike.  I've pretty much decided I like the windshield during the winter (cold), and spring (bug swarms), or long rides (fatigue) but generally remove it as much as possible in the summer and fall.  The choice between forward controls and highway bar might be more difficult.

That's where I bought mine years back and had no problems with them.
