Title: Carb problem?
Post by Cipolino on 06/14/09 at 10:54:26

I cleaned my carb and i put a 150 main jet, at the begining the bike was running ok, with a little tuning of the idlle and mixture screw. after i stop for 2 hours, when i left the trafic light, it wouldn't accelerate properly, i mean from half throtle till full throtle nothing happens, the bike doesn't pull.
what 2 do?

Sounds like you're going back in...... Look for a plugged jet or sticky slide...

It happens,...
You get in there to do good, and loose a piece of gunk into a bad place...
It happens... should be a Murphy law....

ok! i went back in .... it was the moped setings ..... my slider  was stuck down, i couldn't lift it with my fingers so i used two screwdrivers and open it...  cleaned again with a sand paper and i put just an ideea of wd40 on my fingers and then on the slide and on the carb where meets the slide. i will report if i will have problems with this fix ...
guys, feel free to advise me with some cleaning products for the carb
thanks

good ol fashioned Carb Cleaner walmart prolly has it for a buck, but im pretty sure its not rubber safe!

The slide should move with ur finger.

should the slide have a little friction to it? mine does like thers a small peice of debris or something stuck in it but there is not.

Should sanding that be avoided?

I wouldn't recommend sanding unless it's a super fine grit... 000# steel wool is better... clean is key...
It should move silky smooth, with only the spring and diaphragm resistance felt.

the thing is i used a spray of carb leaner ... and the result was a stuck slider ... i used a very smooth sandpaper to clean the black carbon on the slide , i don't think i did any harm ...
