Title: Bending a chrome heat shield + pad question Post by DrunkenDwarf on 06/10/09 at 06:09:36 First Question: Is it possible to put a flare on one of those 7" chromed heat shields? Like this one: Cobra Heat Shield 2" (http://www.amazon.com/COBRA-HEAT-SHIELD-2-99-0165P/dp/B000GU7M8M) I'd like to bend/flair out one end from the clamp down so it won't rub on my Dyna muffler. I don't know if that's possible without destroying the heat shield. Second Question: Those little pads on the inside of the foot peg heat shield...what are they called? Can I buy them? Just thinking of ways I can dampen the heat shield covering my Dyna adapter against the header/muffler. -D. Dwarf |
Title: Re: Bending a chrome heat shield + pad question Post by diamond jim on 06/10/09 at 11:23:21 The link looks like they are radiused but not flared. But I know what you mean. Run a strip of heat wrap under the shield clamps. That will raise the shield maybe 1/16". Maybe even double the wrap right under the center of the heat shield for 1'8" raise. More than that and you may need the next larger diameter heat shield. |
