I am a ‘Cost Efficiency Connoisseur’…what’s that, Hon??? You spell connoisseur “C-H-E-A-P-O”???
Got it, Sweetie!...ahemmm…anyway…here’s an easy and cheap mod for those wanting a cooler for storing/carrying anything the size of a 6 pack. I use mine for carrying anything from Taco Bell to gloves, neck gator and sweatshirt, to Chipotle burritos…whatever will fit inside.

600 miles at varying speeds from around town to highway and it’s still fine (…and intact!) ;)

Parts/Tool list:
-a cheap $5.00 6 pack sized cooler from Wal-Mart…don’t know the brand name(It’s the one with the art-deco penguin on it…)

-Black ¾”two sided hook and loop tape ( I got this at a local electrical supply house like Graybar)

Brand Name: Panduit TAK-TY Hook&Loop Cable Ties
Part #: 1 RL HLS-15R0 (15ft.)

-Box opener knife

-Sharpie or grease pencil for marking

Step#1: Set the cooler on your rack and mark cooler at each outside edge of sissybar between pad and seat

Step#2: While cooler is still in place, mark cooler bottom at points according to the openings on your rack. Since this point of hold is just to keep the cooler on the rack, I used the point where the least amount of tape would be used…the opening on rack furthest from seat.

Step#3: Remove cooler to a bench. Remove cooler shell if needed.
Using a Box Knife, cut a 3/4 in. vertical slit in outer covering according to your mark on each end and two ¾ in. vertical slits on bottom of cooler according to marks.

Step#4: Replace cooler shell if removed. Mark cooler shell with sharpie according to slits in cover, cut 3/4 in. slits in shell with box knife

Step#5: Feed hook&loop tape in slits. String and cut to fit . Keep equal lengths free on outside of cooler, enough to completely overlap itself from one end to the other. I think I used about 2 feet total for the top and 6 in. for the bottom…don’t recall exact lengths.

Step#6: Install cooler with hook&loops onto rack. Wrap top strap around sissybar-between pad and seat and fasten bottom strap to rack.

DONE!

The whole set up cost me around $9.00 and 30min. in time....Sweet!

I also got a cooler from walmart but mounted it on the passenger seat so it acts as a backrest for the driver. Easily attaches with bungies and hold alot of stuff.

I stuffed a piece of foam in the front pocket for a little added comfort. Works great and cost me a total of about 10 bucks.
