Title: gotta love cagers!
Post by Rocco on 06/05/09 at 12:51:10

so i'm sittin @ a light, gonna make a left turn, 441 and lantana. just sitting there, first one in line. someone comes behind me and stops, nothing unusual. then about a minute later BUMP! they for whatever reason bumped my rear, so @ first i thought it had jumped on me but i always keep my hand on the clutch. so i look behind me, and she had a handicap sticker, couldn't see over the wheel.

so then i was like "oh crap, what if she guns it when it turns green....so as soon as it did i checked around and hauled. then when i saw her later on the road i made sure i was far from her. she didn't even realized she had bumped me.

my license plate was folded in half almost, and i was a little surprised lol gotta stay on your toes!!

Welcome to the road experience of riding around with q-tips on the road.  Happens to be as hair-raising here which is a retirement community where its 10 years between drivers license renewal requirements so there are plenty of older folk on the road who really shouldn't be.

Wait til you get the cage making a right hand turn from the left lane...thats always good for an adreneline rush.  ;)

and i always get the grand marquis with only the knuckles visible in the cab!

About two years ago, my father-in-law was sitting at a stop sign waiting his turn when he got the same treatment.  BAM...only he was hit so hard it threw the bike forward and he fell on his ass.

The considerate young lady driving offered over and over to pay his bills in cash on the scene.  Being a wise man, he declined.  The last he saw of her was as she was escorted to the cruiser on her way to her deportation hearing.

He banged up his tailbone pretty bad, and wasn't able to ride for a few weeks, but overall he was fine.  His bike took a few grand in Band-Aids to get back on the road though!

Yay - no injuries! The #1 reason for me picking a Savage was the low end torque - a big safety feature to get the he11 away from inattentive cagers. Seniors, talkers, texters or even cagers in a big hurry- man - that torque is not a toy - it's just as important as brakes and good tires.

In 1969 I was in the passing lane of a four lane. A Lincoln pulled up on my right and matched my speed for about a mile. When I looked over and made eye contact, he smiled at me, and swerved into my lane, forcing me into an oncoming VW bug. The Bug driver had no time to react and held his course allowing me to go around him before closing back into my own lane. This was at 50mph!
Those people are out there! It's rare, but it does happen.
I am forever hearing about carrying chains or pipes. If you are close enough to hit them, they are close enough to kill you. The Biggest, BadA$$ motorcycle rider in the world is no match for a car! Ride like your life depends on it.

i LOVE the low end, since most of my riding in stoplight to stoplight!! and people do not pay attention @ all, it's ridiculous sometimes!

and i want to be as far away from an idiot driver as possible!

Much louder exhaust has saved me a great deal of trouble. With the stock crapper fart can I was always having a lot more close encounters of the cager kind.

I was once slammed from behind at a stop sign so hard it bent the frame of the bike and tossed the bike high in the air.  It pinned me to the hood until she slammed on her brakes and launched me over the bike.
Bent frame and a lot of stuff damaged, cracked elbow for me. good thing I was young and tough in those days.
Oh and even though she had no insurance, she did not get a ticket for anything at all. She was 27 years old and cute and the cop was horney.
