Title: a few more things
Post by Joshua on 06/01/09 at 09:20:43

I have thoroughly looked through the info about the backfiring/white spacer mod but still can't out if that will cure the backfire on shutdown, as that's the only one that bothers me?  Also since the petcock I ordered from ebay didn't have the nipple, does anyone know whether I can take the one off of the savage petcock or not?
thanks
Joshua

Backfiring is a result of a too lean condition in the low throttle range which is controlled by the pilot jet circuit.  By removing the brass plug so you can richen the pilot circuit mixture is the way to stop/reduce the backfiring.  If backing out the pilot air adjusting screw to "3 turns out", if necessary,  is not enough to stop the backfiring then you will need to go one size larger on the pilot jet...then readjust the screw.
