Title: Few Problems
Post by Jr. on 05/27/09 at 22:58:20

So i got my bike running good, kinda. Just 2 problems. The first one is that when the petcock is in the on position the bike dosent get enough gas and maybe a few minutes later it bogs down, in res it does just fine though, should i just get a new petcock or what? The other thing is that there seems to be a neutral inbetween 4 and 5, never had this problem before so i dont know what to do, anyone else had this happen??

Thanks

I've been having problems with my petcock as well at it seems that everyone is recommending that I switch to a raptor 660 petcock as ours are prone to breaking.  As far as the neutral thing, I have no idea.

petcock... where do I begin...
Jr. had your problem for about a year and a half.  could never really fix it till I got a new petcock.  But I changed cause it started leaking gas thru the diaphram.  Other running in res all the time, no problem up until then.

I recommend you take it all apart including the diaphram.  clean it up good.  It could be dirt in one of the screens.  there's one on the petcock and one above the float valve.

Keep an eye out for gas in the vac line.
put a new line in for the vac line
use tie wraps or hose clamps on the vac line.

false neutral inbetween 4 and 5th, apply up pressure when shifting up and down pressure when shifting down and let out the clutch and it will pop into gear.

How come everyone says to replace the vac line if you get fuel in it?  Can't you just let the fuel evaporate?

sorry, it's late should be asleep

replace the vac line as a 1st go at fixing the issue.

periodically, check the vac line for gas, if you find gas, replace the petcock.  If the petcock starts leaking thru the vac line it will lead to big trouble.
