Title: 2005 s40 my first bike and its runs like S&*T Post by cdnwilderness on 05/27/09 at 06:40:40 Hello fellow S40 ers I have an issue that I can not find an answer to! First every now and then my bike will not start nothing no lights horn nothing. then if I push it a few times the lights come back on and it may start. or may not. Last night it happened 50 miles from my home.. I pushed it to start and it finally :(kicked over but now it misses at cruising speed , back fires at 50 miles per hour.. light flicker and it misses... Im just got the bike and her i am trying to get it to run smooth.. any guidance would be great. Thanks Frank |

I was able to swap batteries just yesterday w/o removing the seat. And I don't think push starting would have an effect on timing. |

Title: Re: 2005 s40 my first bike and its runs like S&*T Post by marshall13 on 05/27/09 at 10:41:56 loose connection... my money is on main fuse socket... the 4 wire connector to the iggy switch, the single wire bullet that goes to the bat hot term, or your bat to ground connection are the other likely culprits.. |
Title: Re: 2005 s40 my first bike and its runs like S&*T Post by 1st2know on 05/27/09 at 10:51:35 I came across very similar symptoms a while back. The problem was the cable connectors beneath the seat - in this case a green block. When I was off the bike it would start and idle fine - when I put my rump in the saddle and took off, the lights would flicker, the engine would sputter and die about 1/4 mile later. Dismount, starts right up, take off, lights flicker.... (repeated about a dozen times until my 3 brain cells kicked and told me it was time to fix something) |
