I've got a couple oil leaks again and i wanted to know what you guys did to remedy them. my only ideas are silicone sealant.

I have one on the bottom left side of engine right below front pully. its the gromit the stater wires are coming through.

also i have one on the very front of the motor right below the exhaust
manifold. It appears to be coming from that front bolt under exhaust.

should i just lather some silicone gasket (high temp) around that nut and gromit? or do you guys have a bettery idea to stop my baby bleeding?

P.s. I have already done cylinder head cover cap leak, and it is not leaking anymore.

I have already fixed that leak....

the leak completely and utterly appears to be coming from the cylinder
head stud that is right below the exhaust. does the head-cover plug
leak down that front cylinder head stud, or does it leak around the
exhaust and "seem" to be coming from that stud.

The reason i ask is because everything but that stud is clean (and runnoff from that leak).

also has anyone experianced the leak from the stater gromit?

sorry to say that is right below the plug, if we are talking the stud that is on the right side, forward 1/4 when sitting on the bike. that area is also near the timing chain. just asking, but did you clean up the residual oil from the plug leak. the reason i ask is i just changed the head cover plug on the neighbors machine. when he came back from a quick test ride there was lots of oil spray around. after washing the cly area down with simple green and doing another test ride showed everything was sealed up nice and tight.

I did the plug leak a long time ago, and i pulled the motor out of my beast last friday. There is already a puddle of oil right under that gromit that has the 3 sets of wires (or 2....) coming out from it.

I'm thinking i should just silicone the crap out of it.... its relatively difficult to see while the engine is in the frame, so it won't be too ugly to look at.

the leak from the stater gromit can be fixed with a good liquid gasket. But you have to take of the cover to do it right and clean. Silicone on top of older gasket materials is a half fix :)

So how do i fix it with a "liquid Gasket"

I had that same leak on that nut under the header you're talking about. I took the nut off, and put Loctite threadlock on the stud and put the nut back on. That was a year ago. Still dry.

I didn't think it was the head cover plug leak.

I've only had my Savage for 2 seasons, and never really looked at the motor before. I had no idea there were so many holes ect that went into it to cool it. :o

Same thing worked for me....without the Loctite. I just torqued the nut to about 17 ft-lbs.

End of problem.
