Title: Killing the sidestand switch
Post by CPLgrr-USMC on 05/14/09 at 23:40:45

I'm gonna go ahead and try to get rid of the sidestand kill switch tomorrow morning. I'm not too good with wiring and stuff like that but I'm probably gonna find that out the hard way. I've had enough with the whole sidestand assembly and spring and switch!

Follow the wires from the switch to the connectors behind the LH side cover. Disconnect the connectors and remove the switch and wiring. Connect the 2 connectors and you'r done. You can always go back to the original config. if required. ::)

Disclaimer: YMMV
I didn't have to do any wiring when I got ride of my side stand switch. I simply wrapped several zip ties around it, depressing the plunger. Then I wrapped the package in duct tape. I rerouted the switch (easier done before the switch is wrapped) to the mid section of the bike and secured it to the brackets for the California canister.
Originally I did it that way to buy time til I could figure out what I wanted to do with it on a permanent basis. Over 7,000 miles later, I simply don't give it much thought til someone brings the subject up. Then I think "Man, I really need to deal with that."; but then it's usually nice enough I say "Aw to heck with it. I'll ride instead!" :)
