Title: Rear Shock Adjustment?
Post by High-Def on 05/09/09 at 14:02:20

I searched the tech documents area to no avail. Can someone link me to a rear shock adjustment thread please? Thanks

Nah, too easy.

here's the way I've always did it when they were still stock.
1. lift the rear end to take the load off the shocks but not lift the tire.
2. remove all four shock nuts.
3. one shock will be looser than the other, pull it off.
4. take and put the bottom hole on the top bolt.
5. take a allen wrench, the biggest one that will fit, into the adjustment hole, and turn till it next hole.  Lower for bigger buts. take off and set aside for now.
6. repete for other side.  you may need to raise or lower to releive the shock.  both shocks need to be on the same setting.
7. replace both and secure with nuts.

You don't have to take the shock off,Just put a phillip screw driver in the hole in the bottom part of the shock and turn it,It helps to lift the bike to take some weight off of it,

High setting for more weight low for less?

If you shorten the spring you make it stiffer.  The factory setting is #2 (almost loosest).

To make it easier on the bike, put any kind of dry lube on the cam & notches.  Graphite, anything, will make it slide over the notches more easily.

The factory special tool is the opposite end of the screwdriver blade in the OE tool kit. Allen wrenches do help get around bags if you have them installed and tied down or have hard bags. Max
