Hey,
I looked in the technical documents section and found one fix for the speedometer rattle using fuel line tubing and silicone. I was wondering if anyone had sucess with any other methods or if this is the best way to fix that problem? Thanks

Many ways, most use a similar technique using different materials.

Pretty much the easiest way is to take the 3 screws out of the back and put either rubber tubing or rubber bungs that will fit snugly and be careful when tightening them down because they just go into plastic. When I'm out in the garage here later or tomorrow I'll take a pic of what I used, and the noise stopped.

TAke out the speedo housing. Line the lip of where the housing sits with electrical tape. Mine was kinda squeeky because the three springs on the underside of the tank were rubbing againts the three mounting tabs. Electrical tape over them protected them from rubbing againsts the mounting tab. Squeek and rattle all gone.

The method with the fuel line from the tech section worked great for me. :) Nice not having to rest my hand over it while cruising. Easy and cheap to do!!

I put a bead of silicon around the speedo/tank joint right out in plain view. Then just flip the tank over and WD40 those springs. Presto Bingo, no more racket.

Or you can just move the speedo out on the handlebars.
Of course that would be a lot of work just to stop a noise. :D

I used a section of bicycle innertube, cut up one side, and wrapped around the housing in the tank. Secured everything back down, no more rattle. Not even out the cost of the innertube, as I had a blown one in the garage. Total time, about 10 minutes. Need a second pair of hands to hold everything steady while you secure the speedo into the tank.

You can also get them at most truck stops that have a decent chrome section. Bezels without the hood are also available. Two minutes of dremel time with a grinding stone will get it to fit perfect. You'll understand when you go to fit the speedo into the bezel. Very easy mod. It adds a touch of beauty to an otherwise generic looking speedo/indicator housing.

I had a little bit of rattle before. It's gone now. So I the answer in my case is yes.

used the method of tubing and silicone and works great.. the rattle was making me nuts since i ride everyday....
