Title: Been a "Guest" on this website for too long now...
Post by false_illusion on 05/02/09 at 21:38:10

Hey Everyone!
I just gotta tell ya right off the bat…YOU guys and gals are some of the COOLEST people I’ve never..lol…met!
…And the information you provide on these bikes is nothing short of phenomenal!!!
I wanna have ya all over to the house for a barbecue! LOL!

My story real quick…
I’ve owned my 2007 S40 since August of ’08. I fell in love with riding because of it.
A couple of weeks ago, I put it up for sale. (...insert “gasp track” here...)
Because of the guys in my city with their 45 deg. V-Twins, 52 deg. V-Twins, Olsen Twins, and all the other twins, I thought I needed a bigger bike. I nearly sold it!!! What stopped me in my tracks??? THIS FANTASTIC WEBSITE!!!
Thanks, you guys, for opening my eyes to one AWESOME bike and for being the kind of people you are who ride them!!!
I am honored to be counted as an LS650 Pilot along with all of you!
From the deepest part of my Single Cylinder Headed heart,

False Illusion

P.S.
I feel like the little Bee-Kid in the Blind Melon video they made for their song “No Rain”! LOL! ;D
A little out of place at first…now right at home!

Have a GREAT weekend, everyone, be safe and may GOD Bless you all!

Welcome to the site False Illusion, glad you discovered us and let us unknowingly talk you out of selling your Savage/S40.

As you discovered, this site is full of great folks and ideas for either modding the bike or just performing routine maintenance. We don't care what you want to do to the bike, we are just glad to help and hangout with other Savage riders. So again, welcome.

Welcome aboard false_illusion! This IS THE BEST group of folk in all of Internet-dom!

I am one of those who foolishly ditched his original Savage for a larger V-Twin ... that affair didn't last long at all and I switched back to another LS650 and that is where I'm stayin'!  8-)

Welcome FI. I'll add some beer, maybe Jack_650 will use his hitch to bring a smoker behind his savage, Paladin can carry a couple 12 packs in his saddlebags, DJ might bring some southern pulled pork, PerrydaSavage could bring some real Canadian brew, we could see if we could get potato salad out of sockmonkeygirl, Yonuh Adisi saw a keg, he can easily get that on Firelizard; serowbot's in charge of sauce, Sir Mick paper plates.....
I think we got ourselves a party! Thism wilmpf beae greant! I con harbly waimt. Gulp! Ahem! Ugh, sorry for talking with my mouth full. I got excited and started without you. Now where is that beer?! :)
Oh well (urp!). Welcome FI, and have a great time!

Yep, 1 piston is good; most of those with 2 pistons at just insecure and need an extra one to make up for something lacking .................. somewhere.

Hey sockmonkeygirl! I live in the Southwest quadrant of Ohio. Raised in Xenia. Land of the tornadoes!  ;D
*Edited 5/6/09* I currently reside in Dayton.

I like my steak medium rare, my ribs slow roasted for about 3 hours and basted ever 5 minutes for the last hour. Also, I prefer a nice tall glass of Hoegaarden beer. Maybe some tequila as well if we are really gonna party. You will find that you are really hooked when you started moding and accessorizing the bike.

Welcome!!!  You have found a great bike, and a great site for support.
If you have a question, chances are its been addressed on this site somewhere.  ;D

A guy I know owns a 750 shadow.  One day he lets me take it for a spin and I let him ride my chopped Savage.

no character at all.  It had better suspension and was smoother, but the magic wasn't happening.  He came back with smiles all over his face.

The best way to really make yourself fall in love with this bike and stand out from the twins is to replace the lawnmower muff with a new exhaust.  Let the engine breath and roar in its thumpthump glory.  I live on a campus with several thousand people and when I tell someone that I ride the bike that sounds like a helicopter, they know what I'm talking about. 8-)

Aww, you're just the tail end of Tornado Alley -- Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri are their true natural habitat!

Yup, I've heard of Xenia -- it's pretty much a mandatory stop on any of those "Ride the Alphabet" tours!

Welcome to the site -- we all have one great thumper!

Same story for me recently riding a VTX1800, V-Star 1100 and a V-Star 650.  None have the quickness, agility or the rider room (yeah, that's right) since I've done mods to my thumper.

I sat on some guys stock 800 intruder the other day. I gotta say it was pretty darn nice. If nothing else I gotta say that seat is WAY better than the savage seat. Then again I haven't gotten to modding my seat yet. The shaft drive really turns me off though. IF (big if) I did "move up" Id take a serious look at the intruder.

It's amazing to me how many people I've run into that have heard of Xenia. The only thing we are known for are our tornados (especially the Big One in '74...Pres. Nixon showed up for that one :o) and the fact that Agnes Moorehead...the mother in law in the TV show "Bewitched"...was born there. :D

I have to say though, and you probably experience this too, DR, when you live in regions like ours...the people are amazing survivors and help each other out like no ones business...

The people of Xenia, especially the older folks, are really true to their city subtitle...."The City of Hospitality".

Welcome to the site!

There are a few other Ohioans in the crowd.  I was born/raised in Bethel but now I'm from the eastern suburbs of Cincinnati.

Bethel...east of Xenia on 71...yep. ;)

So your living in the Queen City, now...

My Father-I-L grew up in St. Bernard.

My Wife and Mother-I-L take the kids to the Cincy Zoo pretty frequently...

FI -

As you can see, I'm in Columbus.  We have a few members in northeastern Ohio, and I think, one in Toledo, but can't recall who.  It would be nice if all of us would put our location in our signature or on the left in the ID panel.

Welcome aboard !!
