Title: stock petcock on vm carb?
Post by odvelasc on 05/01/09 at 11:53:42

Hey,

anyone know if I can run and for how long I can run the stock petcock on the vm carb? I found out for sure this afternoon that my raptor petcock is faulty. I left it in the OFF position and left the fuel line disconnected from the carb. There was gas on my battery cover and my belt guard. I figure I have to somehow plug the vac line connection on the petcock.

That would definitely explain the carb issues you have been having.

I figure you could plug the vac port of the stock petcock the same way you plug the vac port on the carb itself. You would have to run on prime though.

Cheaper and easier to rebuild the Raptor.... only two washers.  Savage petcock is a Pita...
Make sure the leak wasn't just dribble out of the fuel line before you bother..
