Title: Jet Needle Stopper screws Stripped!!! Post by LazyLemming on 04/25/09 at 16:08:42 I was trying to get to the white spacer in my carb, and when I tried to remove the two screws, they practically melted under my screwdriver!! They're pretty badly stripped now, is it possible to get them out with a screw extractor or am I looking at a new Diaphram Assembly now? |

Post by seviersavage on 04/25/09 at 16:14:23 I got mine out after I stripped them by taking a dremel tool and a flexible extension and drilled into the top of the screw with a small drill bit. This alowed me to get a small ez out to bite into the screw and extract it. It was scary but If I can do it you can. Seviersavage |

Some places dont have a dedicated nut & bolt store, but maybe theres one not too far away. Take what you have in there & they can match it up. Longview has 2 within 10 blocks so I can usually get what I need. |

Title: Re: Jet Needle Stopper screws Stripped!!! Post by DavetheDog on 04/27/09 at 05:11:52 Lazy, I had the same problem and just barely got them out. I was freakin'. When I did finally get them out, I put each one in a vice, being careful to put just enough pressure to be secured nicely. Then I took a hacksaw and cut a slot into the top of each that was just deep enough to insert a flat head screw driver securely. Cleaned em up real good good and put em back in. Better than ever! Have taken out since a few times in my tuning stages and they still are perfect! One of these days I will find the proper replacement, but in the meantime, this worked out great. |
