Title: foolish question
Post by DocNeedles on 04/25/09 at 10:40:55

I am finally getting down to removing head cap to fix the oil leak.  Clymer's on page 79 says not to remove  bolt (figure 32).  My confusion is that do I need to loosen it in order to get the head cap off?  So far all other bolts are undone and the head cap is free but it is being held in one place and I think it is that bolt.  This seems to me like an inane question but I have ADD and need to read everything over and come up with all potentialities of what I read.I have not snapped off any bolts except I did screw up one of the bolts for the decompressor even with the impact tool.
Thanks,
DocNeedles

It doesn't hurt to remove it, it prevent the rocker shaft from slipping out (I think)

The sealer does hold it down pretty good, but double check the diagram.  I think the ones most oftem missed are the ones under the valve covers.
