Title: For those with mini apes...
Post by SimonTuffGuy on 04/10/09 at 17:31:41

...I'm thinking about switching over to a set of 10" mini apes. What is the difference between the stuck Savage buckhorns, to the S40 drag bars, to a set of 10" mini apes?

Will the 10" mini apes make the bike handle a lot differently?

It takes a little getting used to but nothing that five minutes of riding won't take care of. That's my experience anyway.

same, took a little while to figure out.  You have to wear tighter jackets though, you get a little more of the "sail" effect with the apes.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. :)

I checked out inspection book for motorcycles... I didn't see any requirements for license plate location (or direction), aside that it needs to be visible. And nothing on height of the handlebars, except that they can't be over the height of the riders shoulders when they're sitting on the bike.

Hey.
I was thinking of getting a set of apes myself, but does anybody know where I can get them cheap.

The set I got off EBay was $65 with free shipping.

This is the same set as another member just posted pictures of on the site.

I totally understand about the non-overseas shipping policy some Ebayers have, and frankly I agree with it in this day and age.  Bruno, I tell you what, I just got this 10" ape hanger handlebar from Bikerhaven and it should be here via UPS tomorrow.  I will take the box measurements and weight and plug them into the UPS calculator and see what shipping to Denmark will be (just PM me your address so I can get an exact $$ figure).  If you are willing and want to go ahead with it, you can paypal me the money for the handlebars up front and when I get your set I will put it on a plane to Denmark.  Lemme know if you want to do this, and I have done this before with Jeep parts several years ago when I was into building Jeeps.

-Matt

FWIW... I got my UPS shipping notification. The box says it's 4 lbs. Assuming the size of the box would be similar to those of the bars; 10" height, 32.5" wide, and 7" pull back... You should have a pretty good estimate of shipping costs.

Mine are getting delivered today, and it also says 4 lbs for the box.  I will plug the dimensions of the box and the 4 lb. weight in the UPS calculator and see about exact shipping.  Bruno, still interested?

Mine won't be here until Monday... :( It's alright though... I've still got to get the correct risers and cables and stuff yet! :-P

Mine's got the stock buckhorns so I'm hoping all my cables and lines are long enough!  I'll post back when I get them on either today or tomorrow.

-oh the list of to-do's gets longer with these! (fix head plug leak and start putting her back together/hoping the carb is jetted right)

Hi Matt.
Thank you very much for the offer. I just talk to my local mc shop today and he can get me a set for 450 DDK = $ 80 and I donīt think your  solution is going to be any cheaper.
