Title: rear fender rails
Post by Hiker on 03/25/09 at 22:22:27

Hello everyone, I read a while back that two members traded fender rails and that the bolts were not the same. Was that because they were different years, Savage to S40. Would the same year use the same bolts. I have an 07 with a backrest, I want to go back to the regular  rails, and I would like to use the same bolts.

No problem.  I think the bolts should still fit.  As long as the rails are the same thickness.  When I get saddlebags supports, they came with bolts because they changed the overall thickness.

The rails with the back rest are THINNER than the rails without a backrest.

That means the bolts are shorter on yours vs. the non-sissybar rails.

It should be fine though... The problem is when you go from the wider rails to the thinner.
