cant find the post but some1 had pics up where they cut the shock mounts off and went hard tail. I would like to see the pics again if any one knows who or where they are. thanks [smiley=beer.gif]

I do not believe it was so much a cut off as it was a removal of the shocks.

The usual method is to replace the shocks with solid metal that is shorter than the stock shocks.

yup thats the one! [smiley=beer.gif] and Im goin to remove ALL the upper mounts, with the seat I run they look like crap.

i personally like that purple one with the struts in place of the shocks. I know it wont but that set up looks like the swingarms gunna snap or bend at the first big bump.

i just wonder how bad the ride would be if you went to a hard tail. I've never rode one and it just seems like your ass and back and everything else would take a hell of a beating.

Its not that bad... I will tell you that a Savage with a Hardtail puts off some wicked vibrations!

I very seriously thought about this. I even went to a local machine shop and had them make them. The plans were for 1" stainless steel round stock with the ends nicely rounded like the end of a broomstick. They put the job aside for later and forgot about it. I went back a week later and said nevermind. I've decided to wait til the magical stimulus plan manages to repave the country roads I drive on everyday. I could definitely foresee my rear tire catching air on a sharp-curved potholed road.

It darn does... Ive got about four inches or so off the ground at 55+ mph... so much fun on a bike that weights about 350 wet!

Ha ha. The highways around my house are decent. It's just the roads getting there and back. But soon I'll do it.
