Title: front engine mount thru bolts (foot peg bolts)?
Post by matt_savage on 03/09/09 at 13:43:01

Started my forward control install and these bolts killed me to get out!  Are they supposed to be perfectly straight?  Both of mine are out and are somewhat bent!  The top one came up with some ease but the bottom one is def. bent and the threads are messed up.   Do I have a problem on my hands??

Yes, frame is bent.  but you should be able to straighten out the post well enough to get back in.

did the fc on my 06 last month had to use a drift pin to get em out helps if you use another jack to releve the tension..under the engine with a wood block and bottle jack is how i did it..
this mod is well worth the effort(s) involved...

The top thru bolt on the foot peg or the front most bolt came up with not much effort and the nut still threads on the end of it, but the bottom or back most bolt is the one that's bent and the nut won't thread back on.  Seems like my only options are to either get a new bolt and nut from the dealer and try and straighten the post back out or pound the old bolt back on and JBweld the nut on (with this being a more permanent solution).  Which would you do?
