Title: stock footpeg mod
Post by diamond jim on 03/09/09 at 11:37:46

I don't like how thick the top of the pegs are.

To maximize my forward controls, I had been thinking of buying and modding some pegs for the purpose of getting the top of the peg even with the top of the mount and therefore the top of my legs horizontal to the ground when riding instead of my knees an inch higher than my thighs like they have been.

I pulled the pegs off, rotated the rubber 180 degrees, trimmed off the excess (if you've had the pegs apart you'll know what I mean), and put them back on.  Because of the thickness and position of the stock peg rubber, when doing this I get another inch of room.  Some will wonder about vibration but I've never had a problem and still don't after this mod.  It feels just like any other bike I've ever ridden.  But with a little bit more legroom.

good trick, may have to try it..didnt think 4" would make the difference it does, another inch may be even better( )

Interesting mod.... how did you trim the rubber?... a grinder?...
I like it....

Cut then grinded.  It's hollow in the raised part of the rubber so it's easy to cut.  Grinding wasn't really needed on the rubber but did it to clean it up a tad.
