Title: Got the bike, now some tech questions
Post by Mortation on 03/04/09 at 19:19:38

I got the bike home and posted pics under the hello (http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1236133933).  Now time for some questions.

1) For the love of god tell me someone makes an aftermarket (BIGGER) gear shifter.  I  can not get my foot under it, I have to push it up from the side!!

2) I put fresh gas in the bike and she fired right up.  Seems to run rough to me but coming from an inline 4 any thumper /v-twin I am sure will sound rough.  I read through the clymer maintenance section and almost laughed myself out of my seat.  Not a whole lot there.  I will do everything it says Saturday morning.  But what else would you guys recommend for maintenance?

3) I need a rear right side blinker.  I looked at the parts and was given choices!  Not sure which one is right, they all look to have the same part number?
13-1        LAMP ASSY, REAR TURNSIGNAL,R 35603-38A02-999  (replaces 35603-38A02)      2      $48.50
13-2      LAMP ASSY, REAR TURNSIGNAL,R 35603-38A02-999  (replaces 35603-39A00)      1      $48.50
13-3      LAMP ASSY, REAR TURNSIGNAL,R 35603-38A02-999  (replaces 35604-39A00)      1      $48.50
13-4      LAMP ASSY, REAR TURNSIGNAL,R 35603-38A02-999      1      $48.50

4) If I order 14150-24B01 (Exhaust Pipe), dose it come with part number 14182-38A02  (Exhaust clamp to mount header to engine)?  I am hoping someone knows so I don't order it if I dont have to.  Lots of times I order something from the exploded view from suzuki and I order extra parts because some part comes with the other and it never specifies.

Thats it for now.  More reading I am sure I will have more questions :)  Thanks all.

you can adjust the shifter rod to give you more footroom.

Thank god, I will check it out Saturday.  I don't even have big feet so I don't know what sort of elf was riding this thing before me.

5) Whats the Automatic Decompression Cable for?  Never heard of one...

What it does it opens the exhaust valve for a split second before the starter kicks in so it will allow the starter to spin without having so much compression to fight.

No problem. Like the paint on your bike by the way.

Thanks, me too.  I need to track someone down who can redo the tank and rear fender.  They are in rough shape.  The frame and front fender are almost mint.  Almost like the tank and rear fender did not get enough clear.
