I am new to this forum. I am contemplating buying an S40 but the puny gas tank is a deal breaker. I have read a couple posts about people attempting to put on larger gas tanks but there didn't seem to be anything conclusive. Seeing as how I don't have a welder nor the skills to make my own gas tank. Is it possible to put a larger gas tank where it doesn't require welding or spending thousands of dollars for some custom work?

I put a 6 gallon Harley Davidson Road King tank on mine all I had to really do was drill a hole and Jack_650 put a 5 gallon Softail tank on his.

If you go with the mod I did, you will have to relocate the speedometer which is not that hard to do, you will just need the tach cable from a GT 750 for it is a direct swap just longer.

Between these two threads you should get a pretty good idea on how to do the Road King tank mod.

I didn't go as big as Yonuh Adisi or jack_650
I got a kawasaki vn 750 tank, 3 1/2 gallons, but also I get to have a fuel gauge. I liked that a whole lot.
