Ah, the new "needleless" speedometer.
"No officer, I really don't have any idea how fast I was going. See?"
Is that what's left of the needle sticking out of the bottom of tenths wheel?

It's just more proof that you've got to keep riding the beast.  You've got to keep the needle off of that little post by the 0.

Or you could just replace the whole unit with a new one. Then you have a brand new bike...right? :-?

Seriously, I was thinking about this just the other day. On ebay you see bikes that have been scrapped and there are always speedos available. I guess someone who was crooked and wanted to sell a bike could replace it with one with less miles and lie about that right? I don't even know why I was thinking about that. My mind just wanders sometimes.

Invert the speedometer and shake, that thing will prolly fall out int the open and just let it drop to the bottom of the guage.
Naaa savage never gets a ticket ... never.
Cool.

Nope, I look in the mirror... to see how big the grin is   ;D

On the '96 the clutch slips abit and make wot starts easy to control, hit wot and a half second later dump the clutch.  I'm across the street before most people get their foot off the brake.   :o

I haven't gotten comfortable enough to do that on the '8802.  But there's noticably more, still has the stock muf, but the '02 engine has the '88 carb!

I did 40K on a 89 GS500. From the time it had 8K it was mine, I sold it at 48K in a moment of super broke-e-ness if I dont pay 200 to my electric company they'd shut me off and let me freeze in the dead cold in feb 05. I got 675 bucks for that thing. Anyway it felt like I was losing an arm. Though then I kept a brave face the instant I was over the broke-e-ness it just hurt and hurt. Anyway, oddly I think It would have hurt more if I had sold it for more.
Anyway, the thing is, from 8K to 48 it lost power with every click. In fact there have been 10 other GS500's that ran through my life in the 10 years I had it, and 6 others that have since. I can tell with a short ride how much miles it approximately has. The thing is, more power on a young un is expected. But doesn't mean the old bike its less fun.
Cool.
Srinath.
