would it be possible to switch out the transmission on an 08 s40 and put it into an 86 savage?

would there be any advantage to getting a 5th gear?

the bottom end and transmission are all one piece.
not an easy thing to do.

the top end on both is the roughly the same
the gain would be quicker shifts on the lower end of the scale
and a half shift for 5th
most will agree they should have made 5th taller than it is.
