Title: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by daweise1 on 02/20/09 at 13:08:13 Those that have moved up to a 150/90 or a 150/80.... Did you stay with the 100/90 upfront? Would you go to a 110/90 to make the front even or am I wrong in my thinking???????? In reading the board, I know others have said that the 150 gives better speeds, but worried about upseting the balance of front to rear. Moving up in size is not a problem as I am hanging new fenders on both and the rear is getting a set of 440 11.5" to allow for more room. |

Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by Educatedredneck on 02/20/09 at 22:45:14 I stayed with a 100/90 when I put new tires on last fall, and I'm running a 150/80 in the back. Handles fine and looks good. Now to get rid of the buckhorn handle bar. :D |
Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by Savage_Amusement on 02/21/09 at 06:24:34 Could you guys throw up a pic of the 150 rear? I'm thinking of going that way as well I just wanna see how it looks and the 110 front. That would be awesome. |
Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by BigSingle on 02/21/09 at 07:21:00 yea thats mine next big purchase, a set of tires. I would like to see some pics of different size tires too and if anyone has some white walls that would be nice too...wanting to go more "bobber" style (low and a bit wider in the back and big wheel w skinny tire in front). I know alot of other bikes have to go a bigger wheel in the front though.. |

Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by Facebite138 on 02/21/09 at 10:33:41 I am running a 110/90 up front with a 150/90 rear. The front tire rubbed the fender on mine. I've basically slotted the bolt holes to allow for the fender to be positioned higher in relation to the tire. Once I solved that issue I love my new tires. |
Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by Demin on 02/21/09 at 12:59:31 110 on the front,150 rear.I have also ran a 90/90 front doesn't make that much difference once you get used to it.The 90/90 handles quicker. http://p1.bikepics.com/pics/2008/05/23/bikepics-1298492-800.jpg |
Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by Savage_Amusement on 02/23/09 at 06:18:28 Thanks for the photos. I actually saw one in person this weekend at a bike show that had those tire sizes on them and I LIKE it a lot. |
Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by groupus on 02/24/09 at 14:50:14 Demin, I like your chopper seat - and bike overall. Was that easy to bolt on with maybe making some brackets? I'm looking at chopper seats on ebay (like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Solo-Seat-w-Springs-T-Bar-Harley-BSA-Triumph-Chopper_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35566QQihZ015QQitemZ250374592071QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) and was wondering how easy they are to put on. Building a bracket would be fine, but i'm not about to start hacking and welding yet :P Also, to you guys with 150 rear tires: could that work with a stock rear fender or should I just sick the stock size? Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by Facebite138 on 02/24/09 at 19:19:06 My Rear Fender is stock with a 150/90 tire. The tire isn't close to the fender on the rear. Just the front with the 110/90 rubbed the front fender, but it was an easy fix as I mentioned before. I'll try to post a pic of tomorrow. |

Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by groupus on 02/25/09 at 07:55:51 Thanks, I may have to give that a shot once I burn the rubber off this one. Maybe throw on a set of white walls too.... |
Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by Demin on 02/27/09 at 14:54:56 I ran a 150 IRC Wildflare on the purple bike with a stock fender.I used button head bolts on the inside of the fender just in case.I think I had to move the fender slightly to get even spacing on both sides. The parts to mount the seat are all bolt on.The front mount is a mount to bolt onto a backbone,if you use just the top half it bolts right onto the stock rear tank mount. The seat bracket is a bolton piece,3" springs all available at your local aftermarket Harley parts dealer. The rear mount I made to bolt on the the threaded holes in the frame for the rear fender mount.1/4" steel, holes drilled to bolt to frame, and holes drilled with short 5/16" bolts and nuts to hold the springs. |
Title: Re: 100 or 110/90 when going to 150 size tires? Post by Educatedredneck on 02/27/09 at 22:06:40 I'm running IRC Wildflares, just like Demin. I used buttonhead allens for all the bolts inside the fender that I thought would cause an issue with the tire. I have not had any problems, and I did not need to move the rear fender any. http://w4.bikepics.com/pics/2009/02/26/bikepics-1583106-800.jpg By the way, I'm not the smallest bear in the woods, I run my stock shocks on "3", and the rear tire is all good. I have been running the recommended air pressures that are on the belt guard. http://w4.bikepics.com/pics/2009/02/26/bikepics-1583109-800.jpg Putting "Thumper" away after a fun afternoon ride in February here in Maryland!!!! :) :) :) |

Actually now that I've been riding it a while I can tell it is rubbing on the swing arm. I'm kinda ticked off since they're brand new Dunlop D 404 with less than 500 miles on them and I have to replace the rear now. Can I keep the 110/90 up front if I move to a smaller rear tire? If so what size rear tire should I try? |
