Title: PCV/Crankcase Breather Tube
Post by DracSavage on 02/17/09 at 17:12:27

So after reading the past threads for the past 3 hours I can't say for sure that I found a consensus on what to do with the the tube after the air box has been removed.

It seems to me that a full cone filter on the end of the hose might be a bit of an overkill in addition to looking bulky.

Some people have mentioned keeping it above the carb. How necessary is that seeing as it was not when it was connected to the air box.

Any suggestions based on what you have done or what people think is best?

Thanks again! I can't tell you how lucky I feel that I stumbled on to this forum. Ya'll are awesome!

Ben

Alternatively there needs to be some sort of filter on there.

It's reccommended to be above the head so some of the oil will drip back.

Do you recommend a specific filter of some sort?

I would prefer the hose to be out of sight. If I tuck it away somewhere should I just put something over it that allows a little air flow but might also absorb some of the oil?

Thanks,
Ben

You can get some pretty small filters... You might be able to tuck it somewhere up in under the gas tank?

I haven't decided what to do with mine yet...

Small filter next to the cone. Haven't had any troubles with oil or anything. Not that noticeable unless your looking from this view and I just took my tube down to the motorcycle parts store and found one that fit. Cost like 4-5 bucks or so. Trimmed the tube down a little bit.

That looks nice Savage Amusement. The motorcycle shops here don't carry hardly anything. Not sure what their deal is. I know some of the auto stores sell some things so maybe they will have something that will fit and not cost too much. Already a little over what I wanted to spend. You know how it goes.

Did you notice much of a difference in performance, noise, or anything else when you did your mod?

Look in the performance parts section of any well equipped auto parts store. Max

Thanks Max, I'll go check tomorrow. I've got to get back on the road and my cone filter comes in so I'm getting quite anxious.

BTW Savage_Amusement, it looks as though you moved your ignition. Where did you relocate that to?
