Some might giggle at this idea at first but if you've used or worked with the stuff in the past you know that it's tough, handles most dings nicely (much better than any rattle can/clear coat job ever could), it's pretty darn heat resistant and cost less than a can of spray paint. You can get a piece to do the FC faces for less than $3. You could put gloss or flat black on the inside and outside faces of the controls and polish the edges. That would look sharp. It's also one of my next projects. |

Title: Re: Ed L forward controlls Post by thumperclone on 02/21/09 at 17:27:57 got em on final tweakin monyana..just sittin on er I cant believe what a difference 4" makes ...went ahead and extended the side stand switch wires and drilled the left plate for the 3rd bolt...multi layers of flat black and clear coats still got some touch up to do.. doesnt interfere with the oem engine guard, tho think i need to raise the hwy pegs a bit or just remove them..fine tuning and road test next.. thanks Ed!! p.s. read about some runnin a piece of all thread between the plates, whats the advantange?? every thing seems pretty strong.. |

It adds strenght by tying the two plates together. I noticed that when riding and you go to push off peg to stretch, you could almost feel a slight bending. It strenghted the side stand too. |

Title: Re: Ed L forward controlls Post by thumperclone on 02/22/09 at 22:18:15 got the allthread installed with washers,jam nuts,painted flat black and covered with some of that automive flexable condiut(?) with the slit in it tye wrap inside the jam nuts looks pretty good..touched up all the scratches in the paint on the Ed L brackets(fyi 1"X 3/8" for the L bracket that holds the rear brake cables or nyla nut doesnt grab ) didnt like haven to grind off the oem cable bracket,no big deal if I want to back to stock got to buy a new foot peg/rear brake plate.. played with the rear brake light sw adjustment for a couple of hours finally streached out the spring to the switch to make it work.. while waiting for paint to dry reinstalled a rubber pad on the rear brake lever,silicone and tye wire on both axis till the cure is complete..lost my last pad w/o any bonding agent.. road test tommorow!!! |
