Title: Galfer FK003D91 brake line
Post by Ian on 02/08/09 at 18:41:23

Got a Galfer FK003D91 SS front brake line from www.cyclebrakes.com for my daughter's 1995 LS650. The banjo bolts aren't even close!  1/2" shorter than the stock bolts and the thread pitch is tighter - a definite no go.  >:(  Anyone else had a problem with incorrect banjo bolts?  Can I use the stock bolts with the Galfer brake line?

Dude, sorry you hit a sour note with the banjo bolts..maybe you can drop the supplier a note & it will pluck his heart strings. Hopefully they will send you the correct item & you will be singing a different tune next time you post.

& NO, I am NOT Pickin on you. I am just stringing you along...

The bolts should be reusable with new (or annealed) copper washers as long as they haven't been over torqued. Use the chuck end of a drill bit to see if the cross drilled hole is still round. Max

I just received my Galfer front brake hose.  It was a little longer than stock but no a huge difference (1-2 inches). What bothered me much more was the incorrect pitch of the provided banjo bolts. Fortunately I didn't force the Galfer bolts into place and I saved my stock bolts so no harm/no foul.

Galfer USA is nearby where I live.   I had custom lines made by them for my KZ750.  If you shot them a call I am sure they would send you the correct bolts, but since you didn't buy them direct they may charge you for them.  There stuff is really good quality and I am sure they would like to know there was an issue.

What is the difference between a banjo player  and a savings bond?

The savings bond eventually matures and makes money!

Buying a brake line, $35
Banjo bolts, $15
DOT fluid, $8
A daily dose of JOG, priceless

For everything else...
