Post by BigSingle on 02/07/09 at 08:07:44

Hi everyone! I ran across this site yesterday and havnt gottn off of it....I fliped through post after post even while I was at work..lol sooo I thought I would get up this morning and actually sign up. First off would like to say this is a pretty nice site. Everyone seems to throw in when they can and it also has a varity of different "styles" too...
anyways....
Little bout me. I live in the "sunshine" ::) state of Florida. Ive been into bikes since I was little. Last couple years been into streetbike and doing trackday and stuff like that...I have always loved the oldskool and bobber look but just never got around to doing anything about getting one. Till now.... 8-)

It started with a small post on Craigslist..no picture not alot of information....Contacted the guy by email, could not get him to call me..finially got a date to drive but 100 miles away to go look at this bike w no pictures, information, or even a price...got out to his house and fell in love w it. I saw lots of potention(and money lol). He flat out told me the bike stop runing the night before and when it did had a horriable leak that he didnt know where it came from...Really started worrying..Made a lowball offer the guy agreed....took the key from him and tried to start it and BAM fired right off from cold...she wanted me  ;D

To make a long story short (actually only 3 weeks ago) got it home messed around with it..caught the top\inside :o of the tranny on fire bc of the oil leak and then the teeth on the started sheared off....BOY I was so excited!!! :D  Within two days I had stripd everything off the bike and by the one week the motor was out and IT ALL STARTED!

Im gonna start getting the pictures up hopefully today and get caught up to date...

Hey Big,
Welcome to the forum. Try some 'NeverDull' on that chrome. You can get it for about $4 at Wallyworld. Makes short work of some of that . Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks everyone so far... I try to get some pictures of the "new" frame up tommarow, tring to get my wheels painted up today, and other than that Im not going to post any more chrome pictures up, you all know what dirty and clean chrome looks like  ;D

On a side note...I am very impressed with the chrome that Suzuki used on their bikes. Matter of fact Im always impressed by Suzuki. The main reason every motorized thing Ive owned, bikes, 4wheelers, etc has been made by suzuki...

Just the simple fact that the fenders arent plastic makes me happy.

Title: Re: My Intro
Post by BigSingle on 02/08/09 at 13:02:03

Mine doesnt have any fenders...I wasnt going to use them but I may be reconsidering a rear just for the fact the way my frame is, my back wheel is going to stick way out of place by its self I think...and it rains alot here and not looking foward to it spraying all over me...

alittle more progress....
Owner before me painted the engine "hemi" orange, so I painted high gloss black and polished the fins (not in the pics). I also touched up the carb a bit...

Title: Re: My Intro
Post by BigSingle on 02/25/09 at 19:10:04

yea Im work on that....gonna place below seat on the backside....Im tring to deside if Im going to try fiting it in between the fame and where the swingarm brace is or just mount it on top of the swingarm...

Title: Re: My Intro
Post by T Mack 1 on 02/25/09 at 19:14:59

Hard tail.....  You may want to put a little trianlge of metal (web??)under that seat bracket.

A 150 to 200 lb person bouncing on it over a few months of hard riding might cause the bracket to ripe off of the frame.  It mght not be a fun experience on some back twisty......

Title: Re: My Intro
Post by verslagen1 on 02/25/09 at 19:44:54

Hmmm, the tractor seat spring used to be a big strip of metal bent back on its self.  If you can find one with a 90° bend, you could bolt it right to the seat post.

Hey Welcome aboard - looks like you have a lot of fun and work ahead of you.

Title: Re: My Intro
Post by BigSingle on 02/27/09 at 11:49:37

Well got some work done on the bike. wheels "mounted" up (still have them taped up to get painted), forks are on, handlebars on, and wiring is kinda layn on it so I can see where it all needs to go so I can buid the new harness, and got the motor all together and will be mounting it in the morning.....so far so good just behind my "scedule"....deadline to have on the road is the 12th before leaving for car/bike show in Panama City Florida.
