Title: Ride ends with a BANG!
Post by Picasso736 on 01/27/09 at 07:19:51

After every ride, my wife's 06 fires off a "gun shot" when the engine is turned off. It runs great without any noise on deceleration, just a loud POW whether the key or switch is used to stop the motor. This scares some folks at gas stations and draws too much attention for my liking.

I've searched but have found no answer. What causing the backfire?

the pilot jet is slightly lean.

If you haven't done it yet, remove the plug on the pilot (idle) jet mixture screw and give it a 1/8 to 1/4 turn to the left (CCW).

Awesome! This sounds like an easy fix. Now I just need to locate the pilot screw...
