Title: Front Rim Post by Stimpy on 01/24/09 at 15:38:56 What other Suzuki models share the front wheel w/ the Savage? (or any other non suzuki bike?) I'm going on Monday to a bike parts shop/graveyard to get a new wheel hopefully (and maybe break disc). I had a small traffic accident w/no injuries or damage other the fact that I had to hit the sidewalk in order to avoid a car that ran a red light for no good reason, now my front wheel is wobbly (I drove it home like that, sucked) and I was recommended by a friend to keep the spokes, center and tire but to get a new rim and rebuild instead of trying to repair it since it's such and important part of the bike at high speeds and needs to be at 100%. The disc seem fine but it's a bit rusty and scratched so might as well look for a new one too while I'm there. I'm pissed but fine (I landed on the grass and had full gear on) but the left side of the tank has a small dent (2" oval) from when it hit the curb, and so be it! new battle scar; everything else is surprisingly fine. It's a jungle out here! Part (outside rim alone) is over $250 at the stealership, out_of_the_question! and I have no way of buying from ebay and such since I'm doing a sabbatical in Mexico City right now,the savage was not particularly a popular model here in the 90's and is just starting to catch on as the S40 these last few years so lets' see if I can find the part. * Or does anyone have a spare and want to be a lifesaver and ship it DHL over here? ;) I can do a direct bank deposit to your account from here. I'll let you know on monday how my hunting at the yard went. Thanks guys. |

Stealership parts may be high, but I think labor in Mexico is pretty cheap...so I think you just need to find a 19" rim with the same number of spoke holes, and have it laced and trued... Try talking to and independent bike shop or the junk yard guy... see what they think. Anyway, good luck, and could've been worse. |
