Title: Progressive Shock tool needed?
Post by daweise1 on 01/12/09 at 11:14:55

Looking to take off the end caps (covers) from a pair of 440 and have them powercoated/replaced....
Far as I can tell, I seems I will need the Progressive Shock tool, but I am wondering if anyone has done it without the tool, or if them have one, can I borrow it for shipping and a small rentor fee to ensure proper return.

Hate spending $72 on eBay for a tool I will use once.....

Get a woodworking clamp and compress the spring and you can slide the collar off.you might need 2 one for each side of shock

get the proper tool - think about it - the 440's are big $$$(let's say $300+) - botch them up fooling around on the cheap and what did you gain?

Maybe call around some bike shops, offer to pay rent, lay down a deposit.
