Title: "Louder Please?"
Post by J-Snap on 12/31/08 at 14:48:15

Hi there, relative newb, with what is probably an over-done question. I've been searching through posts to find the info I need, but it's just not coming up.

I'd like to make my bike a little louder. I'm looking for a nice "thwomp" - but the Raask exhaust I'm interested in is apparently pretty hard to get... and possibly illegal here in the Great White North (noise wise I'm assuming).

Another catch is that I live in an apartment building, and have limited space/time to work on the bike in the garage.

What's the best way to improve the sound of my bike without much heavy work? I can manage to take the bike apart to replace and repair - but pipe bending and machining is obviously out.

What are your preferences / thoughts?

Slip-on? If so what one? Maybe sportster pipes? I've heard that's a common one.

Any information would be helpful - and of course, greatly appreciated.

I just put on a dyna exhaust and am happy. Little bit throuahtier (is that a word?) than stock, but I hear the Supertrapp is a more aggressive one.

If you just want a better sound & whatever increase in power you are lucky enough to get, poke a HD exhaust on it. Avoid the ones with the crossover. My opinion, best looking pipe on these things is the Dyna, nice & trim, to fit the smallish bikes bulk. But, if you want a pipe thats tuneable & dont mind spending a few bukkks, get a Supertrapp.

My son has the Dyna you can get one from an HD shop for 20 or 25 bones and then work on the insides till you have the sound you want.  I have a SE but its a track pipe and YOU know when Im around.

The Harley Dyna muffler should give you the sound you want. You can get good deals on eBay but will probably have to buy a pair. You can sell the other one on here. The # you want is #64941-07 Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice and help so far. I found a guy in Florida who's selling dyna mufflers with a slip-ring designed to perfectly cover the gap between my pipe and the larger muffler. Seems like an okay deal.

be carefull with that guy, if it's the one we've had history with he's best avoided.  not very good at doing what supposed to do.

These 2 guys I have heard are a father&son with two different names on eBay. When you are looking around on eBay for Suzuki parts and you see the address Lutz,Fl or Land O Lakes, Fl you have found the sellers to forget about. There are many warnings on this site about these sellers. Buyer bware!

Loud pipes save lives.

...so far haven't gotten fined  ;D
I also don't rev up too much around my own
neighborhood, but 2 streets down it's a different story.

My HD Screaming Eagle CLONE's turn-out-s are loud.  So loud I decided to baffle it down a little.
