Title: Cam Chain Tensioner ( follow-up)
Post by Kropatchek on 12/22/08 at 09:14:40

Some time ago I installed a German designed Camchaintensioneradjuster.  Cannot find the original post but the picture will show  the installation clearly. At the time of installation the engine was 12700 km old. Work done: lifted the headcover and sealed the rubber plug properly, valve adjustment and a check of the camchain mechanism.
The chain was Oke ,so was installed again and the rear guide replaced.
As you can see from the picture the attachment of the tensioner can be moved to the right when you undo the bottom bolt. The pivot point is behind the clutch.
The tensioner started 7 mm out and is now 9 mm after running 8840 KM.

I hope when I open my engine up it is as nice and clean as yours is.   Immaculate.

(well, I can hope -- can't I?)

Man, that is clean. You could operate in there!

i dont get it
you must open case to adjust tension ?
so theres no spring behind the "plunger"?
guess you never have to worry about it fallin out,

There's a spring inside the tensioner as usual. The bolt on top is hollow and contains a spring and little plunger and a detent in the mainpluger, preventing separation when the plunger reaches the end of it's stroke.

Clean engine? I make 4000 km a year so the oil ( a semi syntetec ) is changed every year together with the filter.
Here's the engine 8000 km ago:
