Title: Front Shocks
Post by PipJones on 12/03/08 at 09:08:36

My front forks are pretty squishy. what kind of fluid do they take?
ATF, 5w-30? Or do they take some special shock fluid?

Thanks

Clymers calls for SAE 15 fork oil. Probably a good idea to check, or change the seals while you're in there.

Not an expert here,... but fork oil will effect damping/rebound more than compression..You'll need firmer springs or spacers under the fork caps to firm it up.
Mines a little mushier than I would like too...I just don't want to deal with it.

Anybody done any firming out there?....

I bumped up the oil to 20 wt and it made a noticeable difference, much firmer and I really liked the feel.
