Title: 2007 s4, looking for advice on rough running motor
Post by mountaintrout on 11/17/08 at 10:42:59

i just bought a 2007 with 3500 miles and it was really smooth for about half a week of so.  I think i need some advice on how to calibrate the carb a bit as it has gotten colder and there is a bit of elevation loss from where it was when i bought it.  it idles slightly rough, but it is a bit rough in my slower speeds, 1st, 2nd gear as i am getting used to the turning and new owner stuff.  i cant find a good diagram and i DON'T want to start turning screws blindly.  help would be so helpful please.

It sounds like to me that a simple adjustment of the idle screw will cure the problem. But that is just me, I am sure others with more knowledge will chime in shortly.

The idle adjustment is on the left side of the carb (when sitting on bike). It is a thumb screw and you can't miss it. You can see it in this picture curtisy of Savage Wahine in her carb clean-up thread.
