so i took my bike to have it inspected. I knew that I needed a rear tire but come to find out the front tire had dry rot on it as well as well as new front break pad but thats besides the point i'm trying to make here.
Has any one ever heard of this or are they just trying to pull the wool over my eyes they told me i needed my horn adjusted i just laughed at them and walked out was i wrong can the horn be adjusted or where they trying to charge me $20 for me being gullible ? thanks for any help on this

The shop rate for being gullible is usually $50-70 dollars. If they are only charging you $20 for being gullible that is a good stealership. :)

Does your horn work? If so, it does not need adjustment. If it does not work, it is probably a bad switch, loose wire or bad horn. What year is your bike?

Thats what i thought i have been working on cars for years now. But i would assume that it is a switch that goes directly to the horn or maybe even to a fuse but either way come on
they might as well have asked me to refill my headlight fluid

what type of inspection?? safety?? wear and tear?
for some sort of state sticker? or stealership check out my bike??
horns must have a min. db output
dry rot can kill you if the tire seperates...
$20 is cheap these days whats your life worth???

no you don't understand the $20 was for the horn adjustment only $12 for the state inspection $160 for the rear tire $160 for the front tire and $100 for the front breaks
I'm doing the breaks my self and bought the tires on-line

There a screw in the back of most horns,it changes the tone

The last time I got my bike state inspected, the guy said my stock horn passed, but sounded like "an asthmatic gnat". I picked up a new one at Auto Zone.. ;D

I can get d404 installed with new tube for $100 each.
pads you can pick up for $20 to 30 install a since
$20 you can get a new horn for less

Bikes that are out in the weather are more likely to have the horn start to get quiet. It's just a vibrating switch inside and the workings can get dirty.

I've brought many a horn back to life with a quick tweak. Loosen up the lock nut, then take the screw one turn in ecah direction. Then go back and start tweaking till you get loudest output.
