I read what little I could find in a search here but wasnt much.

What all does it take and what model tank will I need to look for ?

I want something like the HD King Sportster fuel tank I see in J&P Cycle catalog that is 3.3 gal but will go for anything like whats on the Sportster ...

Here is the one I'm using on my latest build.I think it's based on the mid 70's style.It has mounting straps that can be welded,so it's rubber mounted too.

I want to sit it down as far as it can, I would have no prod with the tanks front mount but the rear is whats loosing me, that and the fact the Savage frame goes from one tube to two tubes may prove to be a prob as from what I've seen the Sportster tank just has a straight tunnel for one tube...

They both have a high tunnel.The rear mount,how I did it on the purple one,was cut the stock mount off the Savage tank,and welded it to the rear of the Sporty tank.
