Title: Rat A$$ Mother Fu#*%RS!!!!
Post by Chopped on 10/20/08 at 12:43:16

I left the Rat Savage sittin on the side of the road for a couple of hours last night so I could get home and grab my truck... when I returned I thought nothing of it. Rode the bike today for several hours after fixing a minor wiring fiasco and got pulled over! Thought I was speeding but the first words out of the officers mouth were "where is your TAG at?" My reply was right he.... crappity smack!!!! after explaining to him what may have happened, he let me go with a written warning... who steals licence plates in the country? Got to call the Sherrif's Departement and report it stolen and then down to the DMV!

Sorry to hear that. Walmart has license plate bolts that require a special little wrench to unscrew. They're cone shaped with little slots for the wrench. You can't get them off with regular pliers or a wrench.  I have them on mine.

Yes you can, I have those on the FireLizard's plate. Don't have the tool so I use a pair of pliers and a wrench for the back nut.

Well one trip to the DMV and $6 later... I have a new plate! Didn't take as much as I thought it would and only waited in line for about three minutes! Oh, and the cop messed with me about not having turn signals.... I think he is full of it!

Your plates are on some kids wall. He'll get tired of it & toss it in a few months.. Its just money, right? ( Id want to choke someone, too)

Kudos to the cop who let you off. A good cop would never let the criminals win :-)

I was driving my cage a couple of seasons ago, and I saw a couple of guys working on a motorcycle on the shoulder. I stopped to help. They took off running. I was confused by that reaction, but then I realized that just by stopping, I helped :-)

Here in the rust belt we count on getting our plates ripped off. Mine are held on with two of the cone security bolts, and two phillips panheads with red locktite. If I ever have to take the plate off, I'll have to use the Dremmel on the locktite bolts.

Also, if there is motorcycle un-attended on the side of the road, count on it to get stripped and ripped. For every hour, it will be missing one part. Plates, bungies, stem caps anything that comes off easy.  Leave it there for more than a day, and they'll come back with a pickup truck to finish it off.

Since I carry a 45... I may be willing to leave my Rat somewhere over night and just watch.... Being a Marine I could have some fun with that! Leaving me to say I would rather shoot someone than choke them!!!

Kids.  It had to be kids.  Just curious though, is there any chance at all that the screws could have vibrated loose and backed out?  I have had that happen to one of my license plate screws before.

Nope! I had just put the plate on the night before... not enough road time to vibrate them loose! Not the way I put one of them on! A wing nut that wouldn't turn from the back side! Your probably right about the kids though!

Chopped,

if your plate read something amusing, or special, then most likely it will be on some kid's trophy wall.

But, on the other hand,

if the plates were just the ordinary, run of the mill plates with DMV, then beware and ALWAYS keep one copy of the Police Report and one of your new DMV application on you, and another set (photocopy etc.) in the house...

...just in case you have two Police cruisers belting at you with a shotgun in tow because somebody did armed robbery or hit&run shootout elsewhere with your plates on the scooter...

Sorry, but these things do happen, better be safe than sorry... ::)

And, for the next few weeks, ride slooow and sssaaafe  ;)

Have you been talking to Mrs.Paladin?
Her Camaro was stolen, recovered, sold to her, stolen report not canceled.  She was pulled over in Manhattan Beach, it was .38's from behind doors, and it wasn't just two cruisers.

Hello Paladin !  :)

No, I haven't been talking to Mrs. Paladin, but I have been watching US Police serials since "Adam-12"... remember Officers Reed and  Malloy ?

So I know all about US Police TTPs (Tactics, Techniques and Procedures)

AND

being the car a Camaro, I'm surprised it was only .38s ! What, no shotgun ?  :D
