Title: Throwover bag concerns...
Post by anothertoothpick on 10/19/08 at 15:19:34

Hey all, just got a set of nice, cheap synthetic throwovers... Set out to put them on today, and figured the proper way to do it must naturally be to just pop off the back seat, throw em on over the fender, and bolt everything back together.

Only trouble is, the bags partially cover the regulator assembly and I don't know if that's gonna be a problem... Should I be looking for a different mounting solution?

EDIT: By the regulator assembly I mean that heat sink that sits on top of the rear fender.

Yes. It is not a good idea to cover the rectifier. Your options are to punch a hole in the yoke of your throw-overs so they fit around it, or you can relocate the rectifier.

The topic was just covered in this thread..

I have throw overs with zippers on mine and I loosened the fender rail nuts and slide the over the fender flaps down behind the fender rail and get the bags straight and retighten the nuts and cut off the excess flap down below the fender rail.  I've had my bags on like this for 3200 miles and they haven't moved yet.
