Title: FireLizard acting wierd Post by YonuhAdisi on 10/18/08 at 11:14:32 I have no idea what is actually going on, at times I think it is due to moisture in the mornings and at night or maybe because our gas stations have gone from regular gas to ethanol for the low octane just recently. Here is what it is doing. Idle, is perfect, upper throttle, is perfect, but when I am running maybe 35 or 40 mph she surges and bucks ever so slightly. I have noticed this most of a morning and late at night when I am coming home from work. The reason I believe moisture is with it getting late in the season when I get to the bike to ride home, there is moisture all over the bike, so much in fact I have to wipe the seat dry or have a very wet butt on the way home. The reason I think it may be the switch from gas to ethanol is because it didn't start doing this until recently at the same time as the gas station switched. They don't say how much ethanol is in their product, it just says (our regular gas is ethanol). Any ideas? |

Title: Re: FireLizard acting wierd Post by Jay on 10/19/08 at 19:49:41 We've been on ethanol for some time now, but I have recently noticed an increase in the amount of leaning at the 35 - 45 mph range. It's also been much cooler in the mornings, when I ride home from work, and we have the increase in moisture from condensation, due to the warmer afternoon (wipe seat, or wet butt). When I ride in to work in the late afternoon, early evening, when it's warmer, I don't have this problem. Wow, I've reread that a couple of times. I must be tired. Awkward, but I hope it makes sense. Points off for grammer and sentence structure. :D |
Title: Re: FireLizard acting wierd Post by Toymaker on 10/20/08 at 09:38:05 Try going to a hotter plug. Will make the engine run a little warmer and will help with the surging. I noticed mine surging ever so slightly. Last year, I switched to a hotter plug...and no surging. I mean, try it. Cheers Toymaker |
Title: Re: FireLizard acting wierd Post by YonuhAdisi on 10/22/08 at 10:51:28 It was definitely the moisture, now that we have had a couple of dry days, the FireLizard is running correctly again. |
Title: Re: FireLizard acting wierd Post by rigidchop on 10/23/08 at 01:24:50 i think it was because you let your brother ride it. it was getting back at you. :o |
Title: Re: FireLizard acting wierd Post by YonuhAdisi on 10/23/08 at 10:18:27 No, because it was doing that before I let my brother ride it. Maybe it straightened out because I let him ride it so I wouldn't let him ride it again. Maybe the FireLizard thought it was punishment for not acting right? |
