Title: with new saddlebags Post by diamond jim on 10/15/08 at 13:24:32 I used M50 saddlebag supports that I had in the garage. A trip to Lowe's and $12 gave me all the hardware I needed to make the saddlebag supports work. Also went with the bar-end mirror. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh128/russ_diamond_jim/S4020189-1.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh128/russ_diamond_jim/S4020188-1.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh128/russ_diamond_jim/S4020184-1.jpg |
Title: Re: with new saddlebags Post by diamond jim on 10/15/08 at 15:11:10 I saw a post here today about problems mounting the saddlebag yokes across the fender with the rectifier being in the way. For me, I moved the rectifier and used the rectifier mounting bolts and screw holes for securing the saddlebag yokes in place. I just lined them up, marked the yokes, drilled holes through the leather and ran the bolts through them into the screw holes for the rectifier. |

Title: Re: with new saddlebags Post by diamond jim on 10/16/08 at 10:27:50 Mr. Hyde, they are the River Road Classic Slant , 10-8921. They measure 12"Wx9.5"Hx6"D. Here's a link: http://www.derbycycles.com/cgi-bin/eShop/index.cgi?pid=3506 The site states they are synthetic leather. Either it's wrong or these are a dang good synthetic leather cause I would have sworn they were traditional leather. The bags match the stock seat cover perfectly, like it was a factory option. They have the hidden easy clip snaps behind the straps which I love. I bought them at a local Cycle Gear shop for $99. I used Suzuki M50/C50 saddlebag brackets. I bought the spacers, washers, bolts and nuts at Lowe's. |
Title: Re: with new saddlebags Post by Savage = HD eater on 10/16/08 at 14:18:13 Stupid question - what's a rectifier? |
Title: Re: with new saddlebags Post by diamond jim on 10/16/08 at 14:59:41 The rectifier is an electrical device that looks like this: http://www.cyclewareables.com/pages/rectifier_regulators_street_tour_images/cw20_5339.gif It's mounted on the top center of the rear fender, underneath the passenger seat. |
Title: Re: with new saddlebags Post by ebmiller2 on 10/17/08 at 08:40:58 Just put these River Roads on Suzi last week. Removed the stalk turn signals and replaced them with HD type bullet signals near the end of the fender http://www.super-thumper.org/saddle1.jpg http://www.super-thumper.org/saddle2.jpg :) |
Title: Re: with new saddlebags Post by diamond jim on 10/17/08 at 12:02:46 Ebmiller, how did you brace the bags so they don't hit the belt, shocks and swingarm? Did you mod something? |
