Title: Hand grip compatability
Post by Hard Corps on 10/08/08 at 16:13:58

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I guess it'd be more stupid to not ask:
Does anyone know if grips designed for Harleys will work on the Savage?
I'd like to put these http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.aspx?GID=6F33A0DB-9D59-46C7-956B-6C16705A58E4 on my 2003.

Opinions? Comments?

I just replaced my throttle tube, so I guess I'm better than most to guide you.

These grip have an integral throttle tube.  And it looks like it's for a HD push pull system.  Our TT has only one barrel end and a definite stop.  These have 2 and no stop.

You can make it work but it's going to be sloppy.

Our typical replacement grips look the same on both sides and just slip on or glue on if you like.

Surely the clutch side grip has a narrower bore than the throttle side?

In answer to the OP, bike bars tend to be 7/8" or 1".  Ours and Harleys are 1", most other things are 7/8".

The throttlecable fittings are usually retained from your original grip, just using the 'cover' from the new one.
