Title: IF the CDI is.....
Post by papi_ocho on 09/28/08 at 07:20:27

if the CDI(i think thats what its called)(box about 3in by 2.5in with cooling fins)  is sitting under the seat unbolted now:

1:  the powder coating rubs down to bare metal on the box
2: the paint on the fender where the box is sitting rubs down to bare metal

WILL this situation cause fuses to Short out?

when i moved the box a LONG time ago i dont remember if it had busings underneath it or just hard mounted to the fender

something is causeing problems like this guy:  >:(

That's the rectifier.

The CDI is under the left side cover, no fins.

bare metal to bare metal shouldn't be a problem, mine is bolted to the fender with no isolation bushings.

SSHHT !

Today's the test ride.

Lets see how it goes

I checked every possible place for some kind of worn out wire
except for the head light

any ideas on finding whats causing the fuses to go?

The headlight is a great place for shorts...

thanks for the help VERS!

the bike went all day yesterday..

i had slide a piece of plastic(cut up dust pan) underneath the Rectifier
and removed the brake light mod i had on there.

next week i'll put the light mod back on and cross my fingers....

thanks again!
