Title: Throttle tube
Post by verslagen1 on 09/17/08 at 08:59:07

I bought a new set of grips to match my pegs.

When I went to pull off the throttle tube, I found that the tube was about to break off of the flange that the cable connects to.

I had a used spare but when I took off the rubber the tube was cracked east to west and bound up on the handlebar when the new grip was put on.

I almost bought strangelings old grips, but he couldn't get them off without distroying them.

So for those of you continplating changing your grips might concider getting a new throttle tube along with it.

Thanks for the heads up.  The end cap on my right side was loose when I got the bike from a previous low-speed drop.  Finally lost it somewhere along the highway.  Wsa planning to replace them anyhow with something more traditional (plain black rubber).  Was just looking online today to find some at JCWhitney.  Will have to check my tube as well, I guess.

I priced the OEM replacement, some $30.
Went to dealer, guess what? some $30 and he has to order.
Went online, found some generic replacements $12 (think HD)
Went to local salvage reseller, $5.  Very few cruiser type (1"), a lot of squid type (7/8").
