Pretty sure you need to buy the whole speedo cable.  Here's a pic of the item you've lost.

You're better off buying a O-ring to fit as others have done.

o.k. anyone have a part # for an o ring at advance auto or napa (they are the closest to me)

I ended up using a washer from a kitchen faucet as the seal on the speedo cable. Drilled the center hole out a little to make the cable fit and just squashed it in there. Been almost 3 years with no leaks or drips.

+1 on the kitchen fauset washer. Cheap at Lowes, Home Depot, etc.
