Title: Re: change brakes Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/07/08 at 06:39:01 I think that's way cool. You ride that thing KNOWING you dont HAVE to be alive in the morning, okay? I hope you are wearing protective clothing. What kind of job are you working? |
Title: Re: change brakes Post by Oldfeller on 09/07/08 at 06:41:27 Curious, you replaced the rotor? Why? |
Title: Re: change brakes Post by Sandy Koocanusa on 09/07/08 at 07:38:56 I remember being fifteen. I'll bet ya' he changed it because it was there to change. Now that I'm a codger-in-training, I change things because they need replaced. I liked the old way better, but don't have the gumption to keep it up. :) |

Title: Re: change brakes Post by YonuhAdisi on 09/07/08 at 16:34:16 Pull the spark plug and see what it looks like. If it is black and wet it is flooding out. But beyond that others will have to tell you. Sorry. |

Title: Re: change brakes Post by verslagen1 on 09/08/08 at 09:08:58 EH? And if you been cranking along time, the battery gets run down. The ignition system is sensitive to low voltage. It may crank but won't spark. Try putting it on a charger. |

Also, something I learned a very long time ago, it's best to lurk and listen, you'll learn a lot more that way. |
Title: Re: change brakes Post by feelinjunky on 09/12/08 at 18:21:40 YES! Finally someone that fits into my age group. I recently turned 18 and I began riding my savage at 16. I had a similar problem where the engine was cranking, but the bike wouldn't start. Turned out the battery was a little too weak. So I charged it and now it works fine. It's funny because the day before it started up no problem. Could the battery lose just enough charge overnight to not start the bike? |
Title: Re: change brakes Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/13/08 at 00:21:05 Could if its got some crud around the bottom of the plates, allowing electrons to find their way to the + plates, from the - plates, without passing thru any wires. That happens. Lousy connections can make them hard to start. If the battery isnt old, but its dead or dying, look at the fluid level. If it's low, add & keep an eye on it. If fluid levels drop quickly, check charge system outpputm most likely its high. |
Title: Re: change brakes Post by feelinjunky on 09/13/08 at 16:09:18 Yes, that's it. I remember now. The fluid level in the battery wasn't even. Some cells were overfilled and others were under-filled. I just took a syringe and transferred the fluid from one cell to the other. Haven't had any problems since. |
